A comprehensive, 0.5-credit Personal Financial Literacy course designed specifically for Texas high schools to fulfill House Bill 27 requirements and equip students for lifelong success.
uThrive Academy’s Getting Ahead is a full-semester, 88-instructional-day course built explicitly for Texas high school students (Grades 9–12, all ability levels). The curriculum satisfies the HB27 one-semester PFL graduation requirement (Class of 2030 and beyond) and achieves 100% alignment to the TEKS for Personal Financial Literacy (§113.49) and Career & College Exploration (CCE).

4. Do It: Hands-on, real-world application exercises.
The 6-Module Curriculum Scope & Sequence
Module 1: How to Get on the Right Career Path Align interests with market needs to discover a viable career path that pays the bills and builds wealth, complete with occupational exploration, income-need calculations, and postsecondary cost analyses.
Module 2: Getting & Keeping the Job Put career plans into action by building a winning resume, crafting cover letters, mastering the art of job searching, acing interviews, and learning how to be a rockstar professional employee.
Module 3: You’re Making Money, Now It's Time to Budget Break down paychecks, taxes, and large consumer expenses like housing and vehicle purchasing, culminating in a realistic budget students can actually keep.
Module 4: Don't Spend It ALL – Saving & Investing Strategies Explore banking basics, rainy-day savings, compound interest, the fundamentals of investing, the benefits of homeownership, and retirement planning.
Module 5: Borrow Money the SMART Way Master the importance of credit scores, loan structures, responsible credit card use, and proven strategies to get and stay out of debt quickly.
Module 6: Expect the Unexpected & Protect Yourself Learn about healthy relationship foundations, guarding against identity theft and fraud, navigating medical and other critical insurances, and understanding estate planning.
